Nominations & Elections Chair: 1.Conducts nominations and election of officers of the association. 2. Will write an article for the spring newsletter announcing the results of elections. Planning and Development Chair: 1. Supports the President & President-Elect to develop and coordinate the programming for the fall and spring conferences and meetings, including registration forms. 2. Maintains “Calendar At A Glance” for the newsletter. Legislative Chair: 1. Informs executive board and membership of legislation at the state and national levels which relates to school psychology. 2. Will write an article for each newsletter. Public Relations Chair (Chairperson & Regional Representatives): Promote the image of school psychologists both within ASPA and externally around the State. Chairperson coordinates regional ASPA representatives around the state within individual communities. The committee can organize events such as: Creating educational boards about the roles of the school psychologist to have available within regions for tabling at special events (i.e. ASSEC Conference, January RTI conference etc.), organizing ASPA participation in community fundraisers (i.e. Polar Plunge, Child activity tables at local farmers markets, Walk & Roll for Hope, etc.). The Chairperson will advocate during School Psychology Awareness Week (i.e. article in local newspaper, community boards, etc.). Maintaining ASPA related merchandise (i.e. T-shirts, water bottles, tote bags) that can be available at conferences and/or on the website. (Chair & Co-Chair) Event Planner and Social Coordinator: Promotes and organizes social activities to foster collegiality among membership. Responsible for coordinating at least two social events per year in conjunction with the Fall and Spring Conferences. Responsible for coordinating the Adopt-a-Highway program (e.g. schedule and run the highway cleanup at least two-times a year). Newsletter Editor (1-2 Members in addition): Chaired by the Editor, this committee functions to produce the monthly REVIEW, which is ASPA’s vehicle for communication and professional interchange around the state. Responsible for coordinating a Committees Update section of the Newsletter and obtaining updates and news from each committee. Responsible for seeking and managing advertising for the newsletter. The Editor is responsible for sending the newsletter to Special Education Department chairs/Lead School Psychologists/other educational supervisors around the state to be distributed to school psychologists and other related service staff in Alaska.
